Course Description

Licensed and Registered Nurses who provide direct patient care services are required to complete Infection Control Training every four years unless exempt. This presentation is in accordance with the guideline and syllabus set from the New York State Department of Education and is developed in accordance with the regulations form the Board of Regents. This presentation covers infection control practices, sharps safety, aerosol and blood borne pathogen disease transmission and barrier training as required by the state of New York.

Course Objectives

  • Upon completion of course the provider will:
  • Identify healthcare-associated disease and modes of disease transmission
  • Apply engineering controls and work practice controls
  • Recognize and perform safe injection practices
  • Describe and identify specific high-risk practices and procedures
  • Implement specific measures to prevent transmission of blood borne and aerosol borne pathogens in the workplace.

Certificate of Completion and Attestation of Infection Control Training

You will have access to this video for one week. Upon completion you will be required to complete a course survey and submit it back to a Healthy Education. We will email you a Certificate of Completion and an Attestation of Infection Control Training. Please read each form carefully, fill out and sign and return to the required agencies or workplace.

Cathie Collier RDH, B.ED, MS

Registered Dental Hygienist with over 40 years of experience in hospital, educational and clinical settings:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • Master’s Degree in Health and Healing

Cathie served as adjunct faculty for Lincoln College of Dental Hygiene and Goodwin University School of Dental Hygiene and was Clinical Coordinator of the Fones School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Bridgeport. She served as a clinical educator for dental hygiene students at the VA Hospital in West Haven, Conn, U Conn School of Medicine Perio Department, and Hartford Hospital Dental Clinic and was Supervisor of the Dental Clinic at Yale New Haven Hospital.

A Member of the Organization of Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP), Cathie has over 30 years’ experience as an educator and lecturer in OSHA, Infection Control and Blood born Pathogen training. She is a CPR instructor at the Emergency Care Institute at Bridgeport Hospital.
